This video makes the mistake of defining freedom first in the physical sense, and then in the metaphorical, "can I choose" sense, and then by mixing those up coming to the conclusion that we can be free by understanding our motives. This is a false conclusion, as it only shows that we become free in the metaphorical sense, without addressing the determinist conclusion it set out to harmonize with. Yes, knowing why you do/want things is useful, but no, it can't be judged by a different standard.
