Combining 2 of my favorite pastimes (recumbent cycling & railroad history), join me for a quick ride aboard my "Catrike Trail" recumbent tricycle on one of Rhode Island's newest rail-trails, the Warren Extension of the popular East Bay Bike Trail. The trail follows a mile of the roadbed of the long-abandoned (1937) Warren, RI to Fall River, MA branch of the Providence, Warren, & Bristol RR (later absorbed by the New Haven RR); this line was an electrified commuter-rail line from 1900 until 1937. The remains of a granite RR bridge abutment are visible at the west (Warren) end of the trail, as well as a granite mile marker on the eastern portion.

  • WHERE IS THIS??????????/ WHAT STATTE???

  • @hudsonvalleyguy313 This is a brand-new bike trail in East Warren, RI. It's a short trail, just about a mile long. It's close to Rhode Island's most popular bike trail, the East Bay Bike Trail, which runs from Bristol in the South up through Warren & eventuall to Providence, RI. The East Bay trail is 14.5 miles long (went there after I did this ride & did 35 miles more that day). When it was a railroad, this line branched in Warren to Fall River, MA; this section was abandoned in 1937.
