@coolanddark the settings were already on duplicate. Found a work around... I changed the text and icon size to 150%, which requires you to log out and back in and then i zoomed in a few times on the web browser. Be great is my laptop would do the automatically when I plug in my hdmi cable but i suppose this will do for now. Thanks for your help

Im trying to use my 32 inch full hd tv as a monitor for my laptop. I bought a hdmi cable and it works jus fine... problem is when my laptop is open the resolution is 1440x 900 and when i close it it changes to 1920 x 1080. I'm aware that 1920 x 1080 is a better resolution but the icons appear too small and the text too thin. Any ideas on what can be done?

@OBrien19 I will assume you have a WIndows operating system, if so you need to>start>control panel>adjust screen resolution>multiple displays>duplicate these displays. That way your TV will be just like your computer. If you want to use your TV as a seperate monitor you can choose that option as well. Good luck!
