On the first track to drop from Bjork's forthcoming album, Biophilia, the Icelandic singer-songwriter just doesn't do a lot for me, honestly. I was pretty excited about this track, too.

It's certainly got all the makings of a great Bjork track--some strong vocals and personality, ear-grabbing instrumentation, a climax--but I'm left hanging by how little this song really changes or progresses as it moves from the its beginning to its end.

But this track is off of what's supposed to eventually be an all-out multimedia project, including videos to accompany each track. Maybe I'm really only getting half the story by listen to this song by itself.

What do you think of this track? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

5/10

  • i love Crystalline, but i totally respect this guy. he actually understands music.

  • What are people complaining about? It was just a bad review of a song. Sure, some people find the song to be good, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion and can say whatever the want about it. Björk emphasises that, she's huge on musical snobbery. All of the people saying "Umm... this dude's silly because he doesn't like it" aren't respecting her at all.

  • help i dnt understand her music

  • The breaks you are talking about is a genre of music and it's called breakcore it's not easy listening and not for everyone , but I love it and a give bjork a respect for experimenting with this style, I you want a ''safe'' start into breakcore check out venetian snares, awesome...

  • Without listening to this whole review all I'm going to say is: Crystalline is one of her best songs in a looooong time -- I was a big fan of Bjork in the 90s then after Vespertine, it all kind of went down hill for me. I don't like her 00s albums, so I haven't bothered listening to her most recent stuff, but I think Crystalline is good.

  • Do you have a music major?

  • I listened to this song without the music video and it did seem repetitive and kind of faceless. I then watched the music video and it really glued the song together and I really liked it.

  • You are entitled to your opinion and yes Bjork has always been an aquired taste, but when you say she's been making music for about 2 minutes, she has had a very successful music career for well over 20 years, so i think that comment was a bit off a silly one for you to have made. You obviously know quite a bit about music, but you made yourself look like a bit of an idiot by saying that

  • I'm a big fan of Björk for 20 years now. I agree more or less with this opinion; "Crystalline" confuses me, I cant really catch the point of this song, although I've been listening to it quite a long.

  • freak

  • i agree that it lacks in the development and raw passion of her previous work, yet the ideas she's getting at (in comparing her music to patterns in nature) are really interesting in her context.
