why is it when I change units to architectural and change the units to feet, so i want to draw a line that's 50 ft so i type in 50 in line command, it still comes out in inches. when i dimension it comes out as 4'-2" when i want 50'-0". drivin me crazy! please help. thanks!!!

AutoCAD defaults to inches when you're in architectural units. By typing in just 50, you'll get 50 inches. If you want feet type 50', not just 50. Here are some other correct ways...
50'-6" (fifty feet six inches)
50'6" (fifty feet six inches)
50.5' (same at fifty feet six inches)
50' (feet)
50" (inches)
Hope this helps.

thanks for the great tutorials.. im starting an autoCAD night course soon and this has helped.. although one question here im not sure on .
in the angles unit settings what would deg/mins/secs be used in for in an angle, or rather how would you measure an angle in minutes and secounds?
eggybob 4 years ago
Great. Glad they're helping.
If you're referring to drawing an angle in Min/Sec, obviously make sure angles are set to that in the Units dialog box, then your input would be something like this...@24'<45d30'15" This would give you a line 24' long at an angle of 45 Deg, 30 min, 15 sec.
Let me know if I'm not answering correctly. I want to make sure you get this right.
Good luck.
