i deneyed a search back in 77 and got locked up for 20 years in georgia state prison for it it its better just to hide4 your dope and let them search you

You made this up.

if the officer can smell it or you act suspicious gives the police officer a right to search your vehicle... simple..

I use the old military plan- name rank and serial number only. For civilians, that,s ID and as much respect as the cop deserves. All else is denied. When talking to 'em, be polite, but never kiss their ass. Demand they respect you. I have known too many cops in my life who are crooked. My brother-in-law was one of them! He used to brag about the rotten crap he would do to people.

@SAMFlSHER40l7 good point, but if your riding legal theres no need. it will just waste your time

@UndeadClown95 If you just let them search your and give the cops all the consent they want, okay do that then. But how is your lawyer gonna be able to defend you if you already gave the cops consent? By denying consent your lawyer can challenge that.

@TheTjburke Unless your being detained, you have the right to refuse searches, even if you are being detained you can still refuse consent(which may not count if you are already under arrest), but then the arresting officers would probably look at your refusal as "voluntary".
About your story, I don't know why they arrested your friend, your friend(under 18) has the same constitutional rights as every1 else. Were these some crooked ass cops?
A cop is not alowed 2 rely on assumptions

I have an even better strategy to avoid prosecution... DON'T BREAK THE LAW!

@joehavian The point is, it's always better to deny consent because that gives the lawyer something to fight with. He can try to fight the admission of evidence based on probable cause. But if you consent, there's no fighting the evidence. So no, it may not keep you from being arrested; but if it doesn't, it will still help in court. There's just no reason you should ever consent, unless you're sure it's OK and you just want to speed things up.
