model train backdrop

This is a hand painted backdrop for an O guage model train layout which is still under construction. The layout will be 850 linear feet. The backdrop is tailored to suit the scenery which will eventually be built in front of it and is designed to work with a lighting system which will create a 24 hour daytime/ nightime cycle. The backdrop was painted on 30 yard lengths of mural canvas, glued to the surface which was a combination of sheet rock and masonite with the joints sanded smooth.

This project took three days a week for just over a year. And I loved doing every inch of it!
