He wanted to tryout the 444 Marlin. He didn't think it recoil much more than a .223 remington. Said he is use to the 30-30.. So I let him have a stab at it....

  • @InAKwitmyHK91 Ignorance is bliss.

  • @TheFoundersWereRight Thank you!!! ill consider that when i get around getting one of these. should save a few dollars on powder when reloading the 444 marlin compared to the 45-70 and do what i want it to do.

  • @InAKwitmyHK91 The problem is that In Micro Groove Barrels, it needs to be pushed 1900FPS or faster to stabilize. This is why I feel the 355gr is a much better choice, and also the equal in performance to a 400gr .458 bullet. With Hardcasts in a MG marlin, the rules are keep velocity above 1900 fps, and always use a gas check design. Good Shooting.

  • @TheFoundersWereRight indeed! yes i know about the beartooth bullets, the 405grain 444 marlin sounds deathly. 1700 fps of pure awesomeness.

  • Seems like the 45-70 people like to puff up their chests instead of their brains where ever they go. I don't understand why they can't accept a wonderful cartridge on its own merrits, instead of having to shout put downs to make themselves feel better.

  • @TheFoundersWereRight As a slight correction, the Micro Groove will handle the 355gr, but the 405 cannot be pushed fast enough in safe pressures to stabilize. For anyone looking to, Use a Gas Check, Keep the velocity high, and have fun.

  • @InAKwitmyHK91 Not if you have the micro groove barrel. Beartooth Bullets takes orders online, are not bad for price, and they offer the two heaviest bullets for the 444, a 355gr, and the 405gr. You can get them in any size from .429 to .432 to fit your rifle.

  • I reckon it was still a fair shot. Is that geese in the back ground??

  • was this in Georgia?

  • @AkimboNinjaPWN if i could get ahold of 400 grain hard cast that are 439 caliber for the 444 mag locally, id give it a shot!! ha
