Lots of very old, cringey clips, so please, no criticism! It'd be completely pointless, and isn't your place to say. So anyway, I've lost my confidence in riding, please read on to find out why...

Finally, I've uploaded my first horsey video in almost 20 months! Sorry if some of it looks like it was filmed with a microwave, the quality gets better as the clips get younger.

The song is "(How Can Something So Good) Hurt So bad" by a lovely band called Krypteria.

The reason why I chose this song is because there is a lot of truth in the title of the song. Back in the days when these videos were taken, it was my dream to become a Riding Instructor. But eventually I was driven away by the way I was treated in the horse world. I couldn't ever ride to enjoy myself for a little bit; there was always criticism and competition, bitchyness and just nasty people in general. Work was very unpleasant and sometimes inhumane (!), people were always patronising and assumed you didn't know anything; they'd act as though they considered a piece of horse poo higher than you. So basically, by the age of 17, my dream was crushed. I'm actually quite glad this happened though, because it stopped me being blind, and made me realise that there just isn't a career in horses for me. By the time I'd be much older, with no money, living in rented accommodation on a yard, I would have wished I chose a different path in life.

I've actually lost my confidence in my riding, and have been on a break since early January 2011. I started to hate jumping, and then after that, I started to find I just couldn't do anything that I used to be able to do. It was time for a break. However, I think I may be going back to riding soon, but for private lessons only. I'm gaining interest in riding again, hence this video. So there we go, that's something I've never spoken about before! Much easier telling it to random Youtubers haha ;D Enjoy the video!

  • Girl, I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, Welcome to the horse world..where everyone thinks theyre better than you & their horse is better than yours. & you're right, everyone think they know whats better than you do..never got into showing & didnt pursue consistant lessons bc even the instructor made me cry..& I was 8. Then he backed off cause my mom was about to give her 2 sense.Im almost 20 now..I have my horse. The best thing for me was to just learn on my own & do a lot of research first!

  • @vsusa01 I also agree with you 100%. Such a nasty world, and I can't believe people were even making you cry at the age of 8, it's pathetic! Luckily for me I have lovely instructors who have brought me on really well, so I'm ok with private lessons. Still, no matter what you do, the criticism doesn't stop. Just uploaded a vid "Horses - Angels", first comment was crit, even though there was a paragraph about it in the description! Was I surprised? Nope! I'm glad you're happy now though!

  • @Blueyluvscheese Im glad you're back into riding, my friend! I mean, I know instructors push you to make you better, but really, there's a limit. I havent taken any private lessons but I had a baby not too long ago & my horse is leased out to a college. Thought about getting back into jumping before lease is up & take some private lessons (: Criticism will never stop. The best thing to do is to just not let it get to you ;) horses are a joy & I can tell you are a talented rider!

  • @vsusa01 Thanks! Some of my better instructors work me hard, but were also very fair and understanding. One of my old instructors would shout a lot, but it wasn't in a nasty way, it was something we'd joke about, especially considering the amount of times I almost ran her over LOL! Congrats on the baby! I recommend private lessons, they're fantastic! Indeed, criticism is always there, I mainly just ignore it nowadays. They are indeed a joy, and thank you very much for the riding compliment! :)

  • You should start up riding again. If its your passion don't give up. Follow you dreams. Dont let anyone stop you :D
