Abandoned train bridge in Lynchburg Va. My first video I have made with Windows Movie Maker.

UPDATE! After some searching I finally found some info on this bridge. I kind of stumbled on it when searching for other abandoned bridges in Lynchburg on the internet. Apparently the main line ran through town and through a rock quarry. This confirms what I suspected when I followed the old line with Google Earth. It crossed 460 at some point and this is confirmed by a picture on the sight of a bridge that was taken out about the same time the rail was abandoned. There was another short concert bridge at the rock quarry that survived until the late 80's. From what the sight has on it (and it's not much) service ended in 1964. They continued to use the section where this bridge is to the rock quarry until the late 70's.

  • Wow used to own this bridge?

  • @Rtchugg N&W had it last. I will have to look up the history again to see who originally owned it.

  • Great video of ex N&W 6 Mile Bridge good job man.

  • Glad you liked it. I had different music that went better with this video but You Tube wouldn't let me use it. If there wasn't so much traffic on the road bellow I would have walked out a little ways. At least to the other side of the trees. I wanted to get a pic over the water. I'm trying to figure out how to get to the other side with out walking across the bridge as I'm sure it's illegal to be on it. And I'm afraid of heights. You know much about this bridge? I have found little on the net.

  • I have updated info about this bridge.

  • This is nothing .... you should have seen the old Williams Viaduct. Now, THAT was a bridge! It's destruction was nothing short of criminal.

  • I thought this was in Iraq and a jdam was going to take it out... :(

  • I grew up 2 miles away from this bridge. We used to cross it to go fishing. Yes! It used to go to the rocky dale quarry. The quarry is still there although the old hole is filled with water now. They are blasting another hole these days and that land used to belong to my grandfather. This bridge is supposed to be connected to the blackwater creek nature trail.

  • This bridge is actually located in campbell county off of Mt. Atos Rd.

  • america fuck yea
