As Bahraini protesters regroup to commemorate the first anniversary of the original uprising, we bring you a shocking insight into the roots of their little-reported struggle against a brutal crackdown.

The internet sizzled with videos, tweets and Facebook posts in an attempt to draw the world's attention to the deadly response Bahrain's authorities gave to a rebellious population. This cyber-barrage has continued to be met with an out-and-out denial and a stream of government propaganda. "I believe some of these videos have been fabricated. I have not seen any violence", claims Ahdeya Ahmed, a Bahraini TV presenter. A shocking reminder of how today's chaotic stalemate began.

Listen, this is how democracy works in Shi'ism:

The Imams are always these chosen ones of God who are descendants of the Prophet.

However if the people choose to be ruled by someone else, they keep quiet, like Imam Ali after Abu Bakr was elected. The same happened with every other Imam.

Imam Ali won the only free and fair election out of the 4 'rightly guided' caliphs.

If you want to talk about the 'democracy' involved with the succession other three, go ahead.

Secondly, Hezbollah, if that's what you mean, is NOT an Iranian proxy, just as Muqtada Sadr is not an Iranian proxy in Iraq.

These are three different groups who are preparing for Imam Mahdi by fighting for him. And Hezbollah is mentioned by name in the Quran. It can't be anything else as this is the first organisation or thing to be named 'Hezbollah' since the quran was written.

Umar intorduced Taraweeh and made it obligatory. He said that if it wasn't done then that days fasting would not be valid.

Not ALL people in Iran are sick of the Mullahs. Only the secular ones. I've been there. The secular ones don't like the mullahs because they don't understand or believe in Imam Mahdi and so don't understand that their nation is preparing for him.

Also, look up the Iranian political system. It's a democracy, as I showed already

He didn't get as far as to abolish slavery.

The Prophet realised that just 'freeing' slaves and telling them to shoo harmed them. So instead he took them into his home, fed them, clothed them, educated them, and when they were fully functional citizens with homes and jobs he set them free.

In fact, slaves even inherit from their masters in Islam. Some Islamic kings even inherited the throne when there was no blood heir to the throne.

@shaamanplatinum people in iran and are sick and tired of the mullahs.they want to get rid of them.its nt a democracy its a dictatorship.and iran is ruling over lebonan through proxys.and ali also waged wars on neighbouring empires as caliphate expnaded during his rule 2.but as i said people used to welcome muslim invasion to get rid of their tyrants,and when they used to see justice and social system of islam they used to convert.and umar didnt introduce any bidah.

@shaamanplatinum u can put islamic laws in the constituion and say politicans cant change them but democracy is the true system.just changing the name wont effect anything.but then again every sect has different interpretaions of quran and hadis so hus gnna decide which interpretation is right?slavery was never abolished by prophet pbuh.he just asked ppl 2 treat slaves like u treat ur self.if it was abolished all slaves would hv become unemployed and would do crime.

Zinjir, which involves taking a knife to your skin and drawing blood is haraam, and some Shia do it out of culture rather than religion, which I find wrong. More sadness can be expressed in silence marching, thought and thudding that cutting ourselves.

So there are actually only two differences in belief between Shia and other Sunnis:

Believe that Ahlulbayt (descendants chosen by God) are Masoum

Belief that the Mahdi is already born, which some sunni share also
