My friends encouraged me to enter since I have been busy with music projects. In the remix, I envisioned a heavy nu metal sound like the old Linkin Park, the hybrid theory days. Hopefully, LP will like it and put it on their album! :P

Thanks to everyone who voted! Although MFX didn't win the contest, the experience of creating this remix was fun and that was our goal because we knew that the chances of winning were slim. Congrats to NoBrain for winning with his Daft Punk style remix! The original Catalyst is available now on itunes!

The added instrumentals aren't anything like Linkin Park's old style. It's somewhat decent, but the original version of this song is better than this more metal remix. The use of "tremelo" effect near the end clashed horribly with the vocals. You should have come up with some unique riffs rather than a bunch of backing noise.
