The APC40 (Ableton Performance Controller) is a dedicated controller for Ableton Live, designed by the same engineering team responsible for Akai's iconic MPC range of products. This is a dream come true for the Ableton Live community and an exciting first step into the world of Ableton Live for new users.

I'm using an MPK 49... Would an APC 40 be necessary? Or should I just get a 20?

@hauntedzebra It will maker it easier to learn and is a great tool for production and dj use. Mine is great and helped me a ton to learn Live

@hauntedzebra Its not really an instrument, just gives you more physical use of the software, makes it easier to launch and control clips, also handy if you want to do live performances.

@hauntedzebra My 2 cents: Spend some time with Ableton first. Youtube is full of some great examples of how to do simple and complex things with Ableton Live. Once you get an understanding of how the software works, you'll see how the APC40 takes advantage of the features and makes it easier to do everything. I don't have an APC40 yet, but now that I see how it will make use and navigation of the software and music playing/composition easier, I definitely want one.

@hauntedzebra This really isn't a device to create music with more to trigger and DJ with.
If you want to get into production with a cheap controller get an MPK25.

I just bought Ableton, don't know how to use it yet. Should I pick up an APC40? Or is that an "out of this world" laerning curve? I want to make awesome music.
