you va hear the stubbies rolling around in the back haha
-
@rawnbaze yeap the turbo flutter.
-
nice! I love the sound of your RB. What turbo are you running?
-
haha someone needs fuel
-
@elemento1991 wow you should be my teacher!! im learning so much lmao. but you can always change the pistons for upgraded ones, no?
wow i thought any car can have like 20psi... so if you buy a turbo bigger than your compression ratio you will get turbo lag like all the time?
-
@Darknights7 Yeah, along with the kit... turbo charged cars typically have low compression pistons giving the turbo room the force more air into the engine without causing damage. For instance my WRX runs 8:1 compression ratio... and my engine can handle about 20psi of boost. A turbocharged civic can only run about 4-7psi and thats it because it has higher compression pistons.

@elemento1991 ouch...
OHHHHH NOW I GET IT internal external... i like external. sooo its better to buy a car with a turbo already lol
otherwise i dont have $5000 to spend on a turbo kit!!
wow i thought a turbo just gathers air and produces boost..
thanks man

@Darknights7 You HAVE to have an intercooler and wastegate. The turbo pushes more air into the engine, in return more air comes out of the engine spooling the turbo more, without the wastegate the turbo will continue to build more and more pressure until your engine blows. You can have an external wastegate which vents the air it bled to the atmosphere or an internal wastegate which vents the air into the exhaust housing. EWG = louder and more power IWG = queit and less power.

@elemento1991 ohh so that explains the extreme noise.. so if you have a turbo, its really good to have intercooler, wastegate and dumptube?
-
@Darknights7 A wastegate bleeds off the extra air so the turbo doesn't overboost and blow the engine up. This guys car is setup for 10 psi so any air that will cause the turbo to push over 10psi is bled off through the wastegate. I think the dump your talking about is a dump tube, which directs the air bled off by the wastegate towards the ground. The air is very hot and can damage wires and suspension components if not directed anywhere. Headers are the first exhaust component.
