These planes are a living legend, and we represent a lot, as it was with these fighter pilots of the 1st Brazilian Fighter Group of the Air Force, fought the Germans during World War II.

Really well-done tribute.. thank you!! My dad's best friend flew the P-47 in WWII. His squadron was shot down over Rangoon, Burma. He was he only one to return alive.

@lbchuma They did have a big motor, yet on it's own the P-47 was too heavy to take off of an aircraft carrier alone. So they used a catapault, this gave the big fighter a burst off speed so it could get airborne and stay there after flying off.

@JSF747 Ironic, I'm getting one as well. I'm going to have one coming out of a victory v and a ribbon in front, not sure what text to put into the ribbon.

Great video. I hate admitting this but I almost get emotional watching this video and thinking about what those pilots and all servicemen did for us back then. Maybe it is just the addition of the background music or something I don't know, but great video!!

@Mattessj I have never lost sight of the pilot being a factor. But an ACE in a Spad would certainly be at a disadvantage dogfighting with a rookie pilot in a P-47.
-
@TheSteamLocomotive its the pilot that makes the difference...the plane does too but its the more experienced at the controls that wins....
-
@Mattessj Sooo, the airplane had nothing to do at all with the outcome of the dogfight?
-
@TheSteamLocomotive it was the better pilot that won dogfights... not the better plane
-
@Mattessj If it was all pilot, then why did they use airplanes?
The Thunderbolt was just as potent a dogfighter as the Mustang.
