Queer Youth Network TV reports from Manchester Pride 2008 as a group attempts to gain access to the Youth Tent on Friday evening.

How come the only official event designated as a "safe space" for young people at Manchester Pride costs nearly £20 to gain access to it, and even if you do pay for a wristband it's poorly advertised, the security guards have no information about it and by time you've exchanged your ticket for a wristband the event is finished? What on earth is going on!?

  • I actually disagree, and i don't usually disagree with stuff like this.

Good on you all for fighting for what you belive in though. I think for the ammount of work that goes into manchester pride throughout the year and the amount they raise for charitys is amazing. It's expencive yes, but nothing really if you save up throughout the year and think about the amount of people your helping and the amount of fun your having.

I can understand you guys but i just can't agree with you.

  • The issue at hand here is that Manchester Pride has been hijacked in a most disgusting manner by commercial interests - have we as gay people forgotten what it feels like to be the outsider and to be excluded, where the contemptible concept of the pink pound seeks merely to promote an active policy of social exclusion and alienation of young gay people, based solely on ability to pay over-inflated prices which they can never afford

  • Pride should be free! this is forced charity and an insult to the people who support the village businesses week in and week out only to be held to ransom when they want to go over the pride weekend.

Pride events should be moved out of the village (Whitworth Park maybe) where people can decide weather they would like to attend or not. The village should be free access for all at all times!!! Pride is shame.

  • Make PRIDE Free!

Donation to charity should be personal, not enforced.

  • Who is the wanker with the hat on? Get a grip and get with realitiy you immature little boy, if you want to attend an event you buy a ticket for it in good time, events cost money Manchester pride costs hundreds of thousands of pounds, if you want to attend you must pay, why is that so difficult to understand. I hope in years to come when you have matured alot you will be ashamed of your attitude and your schoolgirl behavior.

  • My voice sounds awful in this video.

  • whats the song u used on this video thanks

  • You seem a little too keen to find a problem. If you want to attend an event, then you should allow time to collect your wristband. The tickets you buy to exchange for a wristband can be bought months in advance. The security threatening you was out of order, at the same time you were swearing and being angsty so I'm not really surprised by the reaction.
