When Seguin's sewer contractor attempted to bore under the Geronimo Creek at IH-10, they penetrated into the creek instead. Water flowing through the 30-inch steel carrier pipe prevented complete welds around each of the unions between pipe segments. According to a foreman, numerous Tyvek bags of gravel were dumped over the pipe to create an artificial bottom. Shortly thereafter, the contractor stopped all work and left the work site shortly before Thanksgiving 2011. A 4.45-inch rain on January 25, 2012, caused a big rise on the creek and considerable erosion of the formerly vegetated ground cover over the sewer project. The abandoned 25-feet deep trench from where the pipe was bored into the creek is under the water at the end of the clip (right side of frame).
