Emerald Ball Proposal: Roberto Arriola and Amanda Hattoon

Emerald Eagle Scholar Roberto Arriola proposes for his girlfriend Amanda Hattoon at the University of North Texas' fifth annual Emerald Eagle Ball, an annual fundraiser for the Emerald Eagle Scholars program. The 2011 ball was held at the Belo Mansion in Dallas on Feb. 19 (Saturday).

The Emerald Eagle Scholars program provides tuition and fees and mentoring to academically talented students with high financial need. Since its creation in 2007, the program has helped more than 1,900 students realize their dream of attending college. Arriola was a member of the first class of scholars, and will graduate with a degree in bilingual education next December. Hattoon will graduate with a degree in music education this May. The couple met when they sang in the same choir their sophomore year.
