This is a comparison of Zoom H1 vs the onboard microphone of Panasonic GH1 camera. The problem with Zoom H1 is that while having excellent sound quality it tends to pick up every touch to the camera like focus or zoom pulling in a very intrusive way if hard-fixed on top of the camera. In this video I try to fight the problem by mounting Zoom H1 to the camera via a commercial shock mount for a shotgun mic. While this makes the entire setup a bit bulkier it definitely helps to reduce the level of unwanted noises.

  • Could u please leave a link to the shockmount

  • @iTouchiPodz001 Seems like they're not on the ebay anymore. Just do a search for "shotgun shock mount", there are plenty of similar ones on the net. Just make sure that the diameter is enough to host H1.

  • Great work around! Thanks for sharing!

  • I could kiss you right now, no homo, ive spent the last 4 hours deciding if getting my rode videomic was the right idea, for mounted hdslr footage, only to see a trillion and one reviews basically making the h1 seem the better choice. Nowwwww you have shown me that it picks up all that in mounted footage (something my rode videomic seems to fair better at) and i can rest my head and go to sleep happy in my choice for mounted mic footage. THANK YOU!!!

  • Thanks man. Good work.
