This was our ECE241 (Digital Systems) Project. We made the Helicopter game (http://www.helicoptergame.net/ for more info).

Done by Firas Kamal Eddine and Anirudh GM - November 30 2009: This project uses the FPGA ( Field Programmable Gate Array ) in the DE-2 to implement a game and makes use of a VGA core to draw on the screen. All the coding is done in Verilog HDL (Verilog Hardware Description Language). This design was intended towards the final project of our Digital System course, ECE 241. Hope you liked it. Don't hesistant to leave you thoughts/questions behind :)

Cheers

  • you can play metal!!!!!

but are not to good at making games

  • You don't even have the slightest idea how hard it is to make something like that. So stick to looking at metal videos then. Read the video description--> to get an idea of how much shit had to be done.

  • @Anirudh how much does the software cost to make this game?

  • Software used was Quartus II. We used Verilog HDL to program the hardware on the Altera DE-2 FPGA.

If you're not an engineer all of the above would be gibberish to you :)

  • @jeramiekoval urgh... that is so ignorant!!!!!... they made that game for a microprocessor (i believe), not a computer with a real operating system... that is SO much harder than "RPG maker" or "game maker" or even c++ or java... and @Anirudh, this is AMAZING..... (i'd like to point out that i actually have no idea about electronic engineering or any type of hardware... but judging from making games for computers, i can immagine this is more difficult, lol...)

  • wew

  • @Anirudh How long did it take to complete? and just how much knowledge did it take to get this far? I have to do a similar type of Verilog HDL project but have no clue on how to start. And I am not a uni student.

  • Wow, you're in ECE and you do guitar covers? Interesting, if not impressive combination. =)

  • superb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
