I think of colonozation more as a proffesional made a mod for civ and made it a separate game, really

Weird to call this Civ IV simply because it uses the same engine.

This is a great intro video, but it's a real letdown of a game. It's incredibly fun, up until the point where you have to declare independence. Than it's impossible to win because the king's soldiers always outnumber you by many many units. They also are much stronger than anything you can produce and get bonuses when attacking cities. Also the "cultural borders" feels very out of place because you will only ever get to work the tiles around the city. The game just feels sloppily done.

@ehteht43 i agree about your DOWN but this game got trade and bussiness things involved and its probably the most challenging and fun civilization ever made

colonization was before (or during) the original civilization game came out
this is a remake of a classic commerce trading an liberty game

Civ4 is amazing, but colonization was a major down. It reduces to 4 playable civs, no advancments, no tutorial, no entire world to yourself, now there's border's called "Europere" which in my opinion isn't a good concept. SO This game sucks. The other civ games are good though. The only good intro movies were civ 1 and 2's though :(

colonization and civilization are totally different kind of games. you can compare only intros. I love colonization and I love civilization.
