  • Do you still have the Linux Mint e17 iso image file?

  • Linux Mint E17 was not released. The developer has deleted and started from scratch using Ubuntu Gusty. There is no point of using the mint provided advantages in E17 because most of them don't work and the only one that might be useful is Mintinstall, but LSI is far better- tuxsoftware(dot)com . The only reason I think people would want Mint + E17 is if they want a forked version of Ubuntu. Mint = forked ubuntu Edgy. Maryan Linux will provide codecs and LSI so just use Maryan once released

  • nice video did you actually make these? also i think i'll stick with linux mint main edition.. thanks though

  • No problem,

  • this is worse then me waxing my balls and watchinig chariots of fire

  • LOL idiot :P.. E17 = Enlightment.. :P

  • 2 bad kde and E17 are so buggy..

  • ........17 ? this is 2009 and mint is only to 7, you must be a time traveler, please tell what the california lotto numbers are for june20 2009 mr. time traveler.

  • Hope you get kpdf working . I have tried in order to check because i haven't used the feature from the 7.4 release but i could'nt make it run not even on kde4. It was replaced by Okular in 4. Okular has text to speech in tools but for me the option remains shaded.

And for the network problem, can't help you . I have problems to with it.From GNOME not leeting me to specify the default gateway to kde 4 having 2 network managers working at once. Unfortunately, no stable linux exists.

  • Great! Thanks for that. I'll try Kdpf on my gnome desktop.

My computer, a Dell Latitude D600 laptop, doesn't seem to like KDE at all, so I'm forced to use Gnome.

But here's another question (please): My Ubuntu 8.10 desktop set up frequently disconnects from the Network. Usually a reboot fixes it, but not always, and it's inconvenient to have to reboot.

I've tested my ADSL connection with a MacOSX 10.5 box and a Dell Inspiron 600m on Ubuntu 8.10 and they don't keep disconnecting.

    Help!

  • Kpdf has text-to speech. I think it's the default KDE pdf reader, but can be run also on other desktop environments.

  • You should include the cost of the all the anti-virus, security and Identity Theft protection software that a user would need to pay for---things that would come free out of the box with a Linux distro.

But also, to be balanced and fair, mention that no Linux distro has speech to text software yet (I hope I'm wrong!). And also, I cannot find text to speech software for Linux either, especially something that can read out .pdf pages to me.

  • I think oz os is the best ubuntu+e17 distro I would look into that if you really want to use e17

  • this is seconded by me. they still work, but ati still has a bug in their drivers which can make it run the drivers twice, if you have a good amount of memory, then It would not matter.
