I live on a hill top in the green centre of the Island. Here the British generals capitulated to the Japanese invading forces pushing their way through Malaysia to create one of the biggest disaster in the Empires history - the "fall of Singapore"in February 1942. My home is next to the building where the white flag of surrender was hoisted ... Coming down from our historical hill top is like a slide down into the reality of Singapore today. Every island trip for me starts with the same beginning : I have to decent to Upper Bukit Timah Road, the oldest link of Singapore and Malaysia.I take Clementi Road next to get a feel for the traffic and the various approaches through the outskirts into City centre.
( Hold on firmly, you are sitting on a BMW R 1200 CL ... biggest bike in town ... this is not a dress rehearsal ... it is real time. No editing tricks. But. To be exact, the wide angle camera lens speeds up the edges of the screen giving the illusion of a higher driving speed. But I prefer this view because it gives a wider view of the scenery passing by and comes closer to the biking experience. )
