found this parasite in my cod fillet from costco. the Phocanema decipiens. they are a common form of parasites in cod, and although the manufacturer does everything reasonable to remove them before it gets to the consumer, some are encountered by the consumer nonetheless. as long as the fish is fully cooked, the parasite poses no threat to humans.

i went to a fish resturant yesterday and i had cod wrapped in salmon.lovely but i was down to about a walnut size and found 5 of these worms.ok they had been cooked but when i called the waitress she said thats normal!great.but if i threw up on the table i guess she wouldnt have got that was normal for me after eating worms
If I see anything like that in a store I'm shopping at, They'll know what I found in their meat. Because I'd say it where everyone could hear me!!!! That's not good...AT ALL!!!!! Gross..
parasites die in few ways. for food i'd take deep frozen food because it's one of the way that kills them all. but it has got to be real low temp like -25c or lower. fresh sushi has it's eggs and you don't see them. just eat everything you like and deworm every 3 months or so. seek a doctor advice. they are every where. don't starve yourself jackie.
