Senator Al Franken introduced an amendment that would prohibit the government from awarding contracts to companies that force rape victims into binding arbitration and thereby deny victims their day in court. Thad Cochran and 29 other male Republicans voted against the bill. Here, Thad Cochran tells me why.
If I'm not mistaken this guy has an IQ of 52?

I'll tell you where Thad Cochran stands. He made "PORKER OF THE MONTH," for April 2010. Don't expect much from this bum. If I have my way, he won't get enough votes to stay in office. I live in Mississippi.

The Franken amendment does NOT dictate contract law. It only stipulates that companies with clauses like this will not receive govt contracts. They can still have whatever they want in their contracts, but the government won't hire them. It also makes T.Cochran's argument dead in the water.
De facto, by voting pro rape, the RepuKKKes ARE dictating contract law, de facto they are.
What kind of Senator (he's after all, part of the govt) does NOT wanna give rape victims the best defense?

the reporter lets him off the hook:
You had him right there! When you said the that the govt IS NOT writing anything, it's simply not willing to do business with those companies.
When he voted pro-rape, he WAS IN FACT, "De Facto" writing a law that meddled between companies and employees.
Thanks to Al Franken, it's not anymore.
30 RepuKKKe Senators, all MALE, all WHITE. the one Latino voted with the Dems ....

Furthermore, the Franken amendment does NOT dictate contract law. It only stipulates that companies with clauses like this will not receive government contracts. They can still have whatever they want in their contracts, but the government won't hire them. That's reasonable. It also makes Thad Cochran's argument dead in the water.

That's bullshit. Thad was saying that the government should not be able to dictate contracts, but if he means that, he could also be saying that OSHA is not something he supports. If a contract involves someone surrendering basic human rights, then damned straight the government should be able to legislate it, and include it in labor and contract law. I for one do not think that the Franken amendment goes far enough. It only covers government contracts. I think that's not enough.

This guy Cochran is in the Senate? Oh my God!☺

I would add that harleyman makes my point from another angle
you cannot enforce a contract that signs away your rights

well, giving you and your comment all the respect it deserves, and I think you can guess just how much THAT is - there are a myriad of reasons to vote for and against amendments to legislation - Thad gave a cogent and logical reason why he voted no - you are assuming you can read his mind and determine motivations that are not expressed
I imagine your ability to read minds must make you very popular - and quite lucrative as well
smiles - now go away liberal sycophant (lol go look it up...)

With all due respect, I really don't give a fuck about what Cochran said. By voting no on the Franken amendment he is saying to God and everyone that he is more concerned with KBR/Haliburton, then a women being gang raped. A victim of assault should not have to arbitrate with their employers before they can take their case to an article 3 court. As a matter of fact, the employer should only find out about if they are called in to the case in an article 3 court. Cochran is a pro-rape asshole!
