she changed the lyrics at the end she said he married last December but I always will remember but later it was they say he married last October but I never will get over... they both were good lyrics though.
It is wonderful to hear Dolly perform this song without the absurd and obtrusive rhythm change performed by her backing band in the various other versions . She is so great though - there is no-one else that comes close to her as a singer.
This is truly great. I love this version more than the one on the album My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy and more than the version on Heartbreak express. She really sounds like a hurt and sad little girl. Thanks for posting. Amazing version.
Wonderful post, I'd never heard this demo before; and some truly great rare pictures to go with it! I particularly like the ones towards the end that look to be from the same photoshoot as the Little Sparrow album artwork. Fantastic all round!
Now this is an amazing gem from the Dolly Parton RCA studio archives! By her voice I am judging this was recorded the same time as her "My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy" album came out in 1969. That album has NEVER seen a CD release yet despite fans expressing huge interest in buying it. As Dolly is doing a world tour this year it would be a dream to have this classic Dolly album finally find a home on compact disc along with a bonus tracks including this track.
Awesome ! One of my favorite songs ....nice to hear this demo version. Interesting how the final words changed slightly ..... from married in December, but always will remember to "married last October, but I never will get over"...
Love the pic at ~ 0:30 ....I can barely make out the words on it, but I think it must have been a publicity shot for "Happy, Happy Birthday Baby"
