Sheet metal fabrication trick for tack welding using a tig welder. This works. Tack welding with a tig machine does not have to be slow.
By setting the tig welding machine up a certain way, you can tack like a laser welder....so this is like a down and dirty laser welder. Get done quicker, be more competitive, get to welding.

What the hell is with all this fancy stuff nowadays!!!!! Its much faster just to get your joints nice and clean and tac it by manualy scratching!!! Foot switched, finger switched where has the skill gone!!!!

Nice tip on the tig welding thats not something they taught me in school, I figured it out on the job, I always just had the amperage up a little more and got the tungsten pretty close to the metal. It works well in a lot of different applications of tig tacking. Have you ever tried to mig weld your sheet metal vertical down? You can get a nice small weld and still have some penetration. Just need to move smooth and kind of fast.

i must say you guys got the deal going on my old man welded for csx then himself now back at it after a work injury and out for about 15 years rough fall doing structure welding but he taught me the basics from there i learned. gloves are needed but dont feel bad just some nice leather cat gloves all i ever use  just careful how your welding create more videos you got my vote
