There is a lift-fan behind the cockpit (you can see the doors open) that provides extra lift to balance thing out.

That is pretty effin' amazing. My first impression is that the plane would just do a ton of somersaults and eat the ground with the downward thrust shooting out of the back like that in hover-mode. I wonder if they use some kind of gyro mechanism to keep it steady...

i have yet to see the USMC version but i have seen the USAF version in flight and it is definitely a sight. had one fly over me on a warm summer day when i had my sunroof down. definitely made me want to switch from flight officer like i'm slated to be, to pilot...

I love the F-35. It's the world's new Harrier jumpjet, which I also love 'cause I'm English, but more expensive. I even got a mod for GTA SA that replaces Hydra. It's a pretty sweet ride. Nice vid.
