@SkullManslaughter in the movie, the twist is better, he sacrifices his life to defeat Light. He put his name to the deathnote and in the event where Misa's Deathgod save her, he didn't die because he already put his name to the deathnote. He have 29 days to live, and here comes the part 3, where he meet Near.
