Wow..."out of touch" doesn't begin to describe how removed from the essential business of the country the GOP has become. I think Mitt Romney represents them perfectly.

They should have discussed the gulf between the Republicans and the American people, not the golf between Members of Congress.

As to your dispute with the popularity of the 26 provision, I don't understand on what ground it is based. We all know a family plan is more expensive than for a single. Do you think parent's are dying to get all dependents off their plan? Even with a spouse it's still a family plan, and cheaper to have you child covered in this way than for them to get it alone. Also you have presumably been paying for this for their entire life up to that point.

Possible reasons aside, yes there is a trend towards having children later in life more than years ago, which we both seem to agree on. This starts in the later half the 20's and carries through the early 30's, though the national average is closer to late 20's.

Either way this is all ignoring the fact that we're doing all of this RIGHT before Obama's re-election campaign during an economic crisis. Obviously the best time to implement a bureaucratic/economic burden on everyone, right?

People are starting families later in life these days because it's both smarter(career-wise) and more economical, so you're seeing more towards the 30's age bracket or upper end of 20's.

I would also dispute the "popularity" of up to 26 staying on their parents' health insurance. People have different needs, and under many plans you have to pay significantly more to have a depedent included.

Either way, that figure includes people on diff plans that wouldn't show up on "insured" lists.

Regarding your other number representing those who do not want health insurance...it may be accurate. However I would not think basing it off this age bracket is appropriate especially considering one of the most popular provisions of the ACA is allowing those up to 26 to stay on their parent's insurance. If these people weren't interested who would care? Also, from my limited personal experience, people late 20's-30 have young families to support are very interested in affordable insurance.

I would seriously question the honesty or intelligence of anybody suggesting that the ACA stands to benefit illegal immigrants in obtaining insurance. It takes little research to find out that they are specifically banned from participating in the state exchanges as well as ineligible for both medicaid and federal subsidies for health insurance.

They generally realize that 10 million out of the 30 million "uninsured" is a pretty common and accepted number for illegal aliens in this country. Further, they realize that 5 million for not wanting/needing(or using different) it is an extremely conservative number without much bias involved. In reality that number is probably much higher, even just considering the sheer number of people between 20-30 in this country.
