@btm85bubs IIRC, they lost $80 million (1980) dollars on the rights and another $80 million in advertising revenue

I'm amazed they didn't take a stab at the Republicans seeing as how this is NBC. But this is when there was at least a modicum of fairness, even on the alphabet channels.

gee, those were the days... when the big 3 networks and the newspapers all had the same exact news, and controlled everyone's minds with no resistance at all.
And thats the way it is.

1980 was a fascinating year when it came to sports, news, politics & current affairs but a rough year for America Economically & with the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

There were actually two announcers heard at the start of this update - Bill Hanrahan and Fred Facey, the latter of whom was heard over the former.
