This 'delightful' interpretation of a classic "Paris" song is performed in reality by Jo Stafford and husband Paul Weston who, evidently, when bored with being constantly asked to play at parties, devised this style as a rebuttal!

  • I haven't heard these excruciatingly funny recordings since I was a child. A local TV host played them and lip-synched while he was portraying a female character on his horror movie spoof show. I didn't find his character very funny, but the records certainly were. Both Jo ...er, "Darlene," that is, and "Jonathan," performed the album very earnestly; you can hear it; they're not "winking" at the audience, but playing it straight. That's why they're so successfully funny. Thanks for posting.

  • @GuinnBerger I have their first vinyl album but am ashamed to say I don't have a CD! No collection should be without this hilarious couple's output, so I'm off to order the CD TODAY!!! Having said that, a little does actually go a long way - brilliant though Jo and Paul are/were, three tracks at a time is plenty!! Thanks for your interesting comment...

  • I love them SO much. (In truth, though, Darlene is no Wing.)

  • @HollywoodHillsCookie You have to be an expert singer blessed with phenomenal technique to be able to sing this badly - Jo Stafford was never less than brilliant...

  • Wow. Music to be Hung Over By....

  • @hanmeng Thanks for your comment - understand re: 'standard' Stafford, but it takes a special talent to sing that badly!!!

  • @ThomShelford

I'm more a fan of the standard Jo Stafford, but I love the ancient photos.

  • LMAO! The piano and singer are so bad! That takes some skill!

  • Ouch...

  • @ThomShelford Yes, it takes great control to sing slightly flat or sharp like that, not to mention what they do with rhythm (!) Just like it's hard to clap off the beat when listening to music.
