What a joyous performance, a real dance - rather Haydnesque in the humour, showing LH's lovely personality. I remember, like yesterday, Jacqueline du Pre playing this on radio in the sixties (not recorded, I think - tell me if I'm wrong) in quite a different smooth but energetic style. I add this to my list of utter unforgettable favourites. Thanks to strad1944 !

Wonderful! Rostropovich sounds like a beginner playing prima vista, in comparison. I can almost never enjoy solo pieces by Bach on bowed instruments ( except viola da gamba ) but this is really good!! Excellent tempo too!

simply wonderful. the first recording i heard of this was by harrell. to me it was the yardstick to measure all other performances of these pieces by.
