  • I'm hoping for a pt. 8 sometime, but right now, it would be pretty sweet to be able to viddy pt. 6, man. Not that I'm complaining, pretty sweet series as is.

  • @QuotingLovecraft Check my channel for part 8! :)

  • Are there any bands you could recomend if I said that I like Dog Fashion Disco, Polkadot Cadaver and Waltari?

  • @Worm101v2 Try out Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, and maybe even Tomahawk (more rock than metal).

  • Pin-Up Went Down, Solefald, norwegian jazz metal band Shining, and Welcome to Rapture on MySpace.

Did you present Mr. Bungle anywhere? Can't remember...

  • @SomeGuyFromUpNorth I did, but that video got taken down because Mr. Bungle is owned by Warner Bros. :P

  • check out this band called shaolin death squad guys. they're avant garde

  • I've been listening to your vids, patiently waiting to hear mention of Fleurety. Still nothing, so I would suggest "Face in a Fever" by them. One of the first avant-garde black metal bands (before going full avant-garde), and they are great. Props for mentioning Aberrant Vascular, BTW! They're one of my favorites.

  • hey, thank you so much for the videos! they help me so much :) hey, if you want for the IX video you can put this band: A Kid Hereafter in the Grinding Light , it´s like a Avant-garde grind/Death metal, it´s a little crazy, and maybe it´s cool for your videos, it´s one choice, only if you want. anyway, thank you so much for your videos :)

  • I think you should use Between The Buried An Me in the next video. They are a progressive death metal band. But they use a little bit of everything in their songs. Ants Of The Sky, Prequel To The Sequel, and Mordecai are some good songs by them.

  • Part 8? :D

  • I'm amazed that it took you until vid 7 to introduce Kayo Dot, who are in my mind the indisputable overlords of avant-garde metal. Haven't seen mention of Pensées Nocturnes yet...maybe Mitochondrion too. Those are my kind of things, extreme black/death/horror metal which is unsettling (like Blut Aus Nord and Portal do very well, but you did already use them!)

  • check out the band Nuclear Rabbit. they're also avant-garde metal

  • super helpful vid - thanks a bunch! i learned some new bands to check out

  • Thank you for a great list of Avant-Garde bands out there. I have to say, i'm still not used to sound of most of them (especially genre-benders), but it just shows that i have lots of catching up to do :)

As for suggestions, not sure if you included it in your list (part 6 is down due to copyright) but give a listen to some of work of Mick Barr, like Orthrelm, Octis or Ocrillim. Mostly guitar work with compositions similar to modern Classical music - Minimalism and Repetition. Interesting stuff
