Ed tracking drums on a pre-production demo, using a 'Tama Starclassic Bubinga' kit and Zildjian Cymbals. An Audix D6 mic is on the kick drum and an Audix i5 is on the snare. 2 x 'Coles 4038' ribbon mics are performing the 'overhead' role. The Coles are running into an 'A-Designs Pacifica' preamp and then into an 'Apogee Ensamble'. An iMac running Logic Studio is recording the audio. The Audix mics on the kick and snare are using the Apogee ensamble preamps. The sound on the video, however, is just from the camera.

  • @roo2new. We could just sink the audio we recorded to the video in Logic. Something I'm sure Ed will do when he gets a Mac. Ed played on the recent Jessica lawson release Lakeland Rover and I (Dan Webster) produced it, check out the track Loreli. We used most of this kit for that, though it has to be said we didn't use the Coles (you need some meaty stands to get them higher) and we were in a better room. The results from this were very good considering the room and limitations of the stands.

  • nice absorption...but why do you have the drum kit up against the short wall in the room. i'm assuming you listened around a bit, but that looks like some horrible reflective geometry for your overheads.

  • MANNnnnnn ?!?! you should get a camera that can hard line audio in ....or get a video program that lets you import an audio track ....hard to tell which would be more expensive ??? but yeah .. .shame you really can't hear what the Coles are doing ...

  • Anywhere we can hear what the final sound is like? Every part of that setup is top of the line, it's a shame to just hear the camera's audio!
