Anyone else think that since around season 20 the show has gotten really good again? I watched most of season 22 recently and i was impressed with almost all of the episodes on it. Hopefully its only a taste of things to come, so one day the show can go out on a high (although i hope that day never comes).
if you're a real simpsons nerd, like me, you'll know mike scully is the one who ruined the show and turned it from a realistic, witty and heartfelt sitcom into Homer's Wacky Half Hour Fun Time, featuring pointless guest stars. Al Jean had to pick up from this mess after season 13, 9 years ago. he did well at first, but, inevitably, the show has become stale, as any would after 22 seasons. the writing team could of course do better, but al jean isn't the sole cause of the simpsons' downfall.
(TV series) (executive producer - 103 episodes, 1992-2009) (consulting producer - 70 episodes, 1993-1997) (co-executive producer - 26 episodes, 1991-2005) (supervising producer - 22 episodes, 1990-1991) (co-producer - 13 episodes, 1989-1990) .. he wasn't a showrunner from seasons 11-19 or 20.. him and Mike Reiss were consultants but were the show runners somewhere between seasons 3-7..
@aroundtheclock I wouldn't be that harsh. Remember him and another writer ran the show in seasons 3 and 4, which are considered by many to be the best seasons of the series?
This guy was on the show in the early years.. with mike reiss and even conan. Al left like most of the main writers after season 6-9.. I think Al came back in season 20? I actually have been watching season 21-22.. good stuff.
Fuck you Al Jean, you ruined The Simpsons.
