To my ear, he was the most expressive of the early jazz violinist. He had great technique, but never used it for it's own sake. What ideas this man had while playing. A giant!

I think that comment is true about the touch, but people such as this man invented this music,
it's hard to get the feel right if you were'nt there to absorb everything that went into it.
