i really dont think the amount of younger people in an area makes it worse, the fact there are no jobs, however, will obviously depress people. but you cant blame that on young people.

I was born and raised in Coventry and when I visit my family now I can tell you that it is far far worse a situation today then it was back in the early eighties primarily due to the massive increase in the younger population so I used the term prophetic because the lyrics were in essence a warning to future generations...

Awsome. I read that Dammers recorded and produced the backing track for Ghost Town himself before the vocals were added ; unique sound he got on that single. For me, I think it was also fantastic that after the classic debut album The Specials could make a follow up that was quite different musically for a band with what people might have considered a limited musical style. Not that many have the courage to do something very different after a successful debut album

I saw Madness live (twice) back in the day. Pure magic!

I should have said that he was the most talented in the band in my opinion. The rest of the band are great too, but Dammers has great vision and as well as having great musical ideas, had the idea for 2Tone records, thus giving other bands the TheBeat contracts. If he hadn't we may not have got TheBeat, among the best UK bands, or maybe not Madness

Dammers is a bit of a prat. Talent? Listen to the drumming (rolls & fills) with the bass, guitar and dammers organ. The drumming with the bass is incredible. Terry was not bad either.

1979, same problems as we have today. People need to put away the rose tinted glasses, society us improving, as much as you refuse to see it.
