Continued.... Consequently, all promotional pictures containing the skull-head were either dropped or edited out by the tobacco company. Needless to say, the Residents were not especially happy with the situation, but, since the costuming requirements of this particular production had never included an appearance of Mr. Skull, Marlboro's attitude of paranois censorship only represented a minor irritation for the group.

Eventually and oddly, upon seeing the polished and elegant skull mask, Marlboro representitives apparently realized that Mr. Skull was indeed an existing character and not intended to comment on the dangers of smoking. Surprisingly, at theat point they backed off, allowing the Residents' then lead singer to make a silent appearance at the group's press conference prior to the performances.
