well as an update...the guy i "loved" that i had known for many years turned out to be such an asshole when i told him how i felt so i completely gave up on him and decided to live my life and not care about guys. and it turns out that the people who say that "love will find you when your not looking" are completely RIGHT! i found a guy that is sooo sweet and caring and i love him sooooo much. we've been together now for almost 7 months. and the other guy is completely out of my life for good.
