UPDATE: I realize some of this material is outdated and certain things aren't covered as in-depth as people would like. However, I really don't have time to help people individually, so please direct your questions about hacking to SMWCentral. You can get a lot more help on the forums there for all this stuff, as well as for things I've never done (e.g. custom graphics, blocks, sprites, music, etc.)

Topics:
- Linking map/submap exit tiles
- Collapse settings for castles, fortresses, and switch palaces
- Editing special messages and boss sequence text
- Changing special levels and boss sequence levels
- Changing levels which activate "special world" palette/graphics
- Changing "no auto-move" levels
- TESTING!

Notes:
- For map/submap exit tiles, refer to existing ones on the overworld for how to set them up properly since I didn't actually link any and my explanation was kinda speedy.
- In "Overworld - Extra Options", you have some options that I mentioned but did not show, such as disabling automatic save prompts and removing the special programming of level 24.
- You can also change the submap music by clicking "Overworld - Change Submap Music Selection".
- I'm not sure why the Yoshi message didn't appear. I think you have to be in the Yoshi's Island submap for the message to appear.

  • My pipes have level numbers on them, how do I get rid of the level numbers

  • @pethanct01 There are two pipe tiles in the Layer 1 tile selector box. One has a level number, the other doesn't. It shouldn't matter though, game knows when you are on a pipe or star and should work. If it doesn't work, try using the other pipe tile.

  • how do it works whit the overworld custom music??

  • @AnimeFreak719 I have never used custom music. Ask on SMWCentral(dot)net.

  • I don't know if this has been answered in comments or videos anywhere, haven't got time to watch, but can anyone answer me how to create an option to save the game after beating a level? I want to be able to save after every map, not just castles and haunted houses (and whatever else there is)

  • @themightychickens When you edit the level properties, there's an option to force a save prompt. Also, certain level tiles in the Layer 1 tile selector window automatically force a save prompt.

  • Well, don't tell anybody I told you this, but there's a little-known place on the internet called "Google." Not many people know about it, it's kinda underground, and I really shouldn't be spilling the beans like this, so keep it a secret. ;)
