Composed by Sherman Johnson
Sherman Johnson was a native of Meridian, MS. It is believed that he was living in Nashville, TN. at the time when he made his first recordings for Nashboro in 1951. Johnson had a wide fan base running from Nashville to Jackson & Meridian at the time, and even hosted his own radio show on WTOK-AM in Meridian for a while. After his debut recordings in Nashville, he recorded at Trumpet Records in Jackson in 1952, but the owner of the label Lillian McMurtry wouldn't release them and in her own words called them "a poor imitation of Cecil Gant" that probably messed with Johnson's head because he was in thrall with Gant. Johnson also recorded for Sun in Memphis later that year, with his sides being unissued. In ''53 he returned to Trumpet and recorded five sides, with four being released, and this time probably realizing that he had to sound like himself. He penned the song "Saving My Love For You" recorded by Johnny Ace in 1954. Soon after, it seems that he bowed out from the music scene.
