@2006myangel You have a good start with waiting. In fact you shouud continue to wait, be careful with the lighting [as said florescent lights work wonderfully] and be sure to water from the bottom with a hint of fertilizer. Your plants will grow from the mother leaf and when they get too crowded for the pot [this will take your own judgement since violets like to be crowded in their pot] you can transfer them to another pot and let them continue to grow.
ok i have a question maybe yall can help me with...i took 4 leaves from my moms AV plant and its huge she passed away 3 months ago and i just done mine the old granny way cut and put in water now I have long roots and i just planted them in some good potting soil these leaves are huge almost the size of the palm of my hand now i do not know what to do with them except wait on the mother plant to have her babies. any sugg. on what I should do now? thanks.
I've been searching all over the internet for this info on how to grow african violets, and most of the info was too wordy and without example pics and some were extremely too sientific. Thanks so much for posting this vid, it's straight to the point and clear. What would I do without youtube and you, thanks !!!
I have mine growing under a shoplight I got at a hardware store for 11.99 - it is 48 inches long, about 6" wide and takes two bulbs, which were about $5 each. Ask the store to reccommend a "warm" bulb and a "cool" for the best growing. Mine are both T12's. I hung my fixture under kitchen island cabinets and it came with chains so it can be raised or lowered. I have it 9 or 10" above the plants. I grow mini AV's, but u could fit at least 20 standard size under this light
cool video .. thanks for posting .. keep it up =)

What happens if you plant a leaf from a chimera african violet? Will a plant grow out? will it make flowers?
