  • i have seen this movie in you tube

i understand japanese, so i don't need subtitle.

i can say that this film is very artistic.

some moment are very horific, but we must understand japanese culture or we will think the that the moment is stupic or comic.

Really some moment are very beauriffull, sad, but also horrific and funny

Even with the same music we heard one hundred of time, i took pleasure to watch it.

i apologise for my gramatical error in english.

  • @Majichianneru Admitedly I don't know much about the culture of Japan except what in see in Japanese cinema which for me encompases Kaiju films Tokusatsu stuff like Ultraman and more serious minded Kurosawa films but I always feel like if I understood it in it's original language that I would derive a deeper impact from it. You mention the music in the film and I might have forgotten to mention it in the review. It was haunting and the tune actually stuck with me long after I finished the movie.

  • i heard some of the bizarre elements actually came from the director getting ideas from his preteen daughter...also, he was deliberately trying to make the effects look fake

  • @Casandraelf That's cool about the director getting ideas from his kid along the way. That's the way to make a film, start off with an idea but nothing set in stone that way you can add or change stuff as you go. I think House is a masterpiece.

  • @AndrewLewis78 god, i need to track it down. it sounds like one hell of a ride. someone did post the entire film without subtitles on youtube, but maybe i'll have to make a trip to little tokyo and hope i can find it there

  • @Casandraelf I saw on Amazon that the Criterion Collection has released a dvd of it. It was only 19 bucks, I'm thinking about ordering one myself.

yes, before i watched movie in japanese while i didnt understood the language with subtitle, but nouw when i watch it again, it's à little bit diferend, because each word have deep meaning sometimes wich can not be better with a translation,

yes, the music, over and over, i think, but im not shure the music is almost a caracther of the movie, i mean, we can heard it since the begining, and even in the universe of caracther, they heard the same song with the piano. it's so weird

  • @nonfiction1 Thanx, it was a great movie. TCM usually has something cool on at any given time but now and then they sneak in something like House and it's kind of an enlightening experience.

    Cheers.

  • hey andrew, nice review! i watched it friday night on tcm as well. glad you liked it too
