Fran Allison fans rarely see her work outside of "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" so I thought I'd put up clips of her performance in this 1967 television production.

She sings "Near To You" with Jerry Lanning and "A Man Doesn't Know" with Ray Middleton. Originally broadcast on NBC's General Electric Theater on April 8, 1967.

  • I don't care about the "cheap set," the acting is PHENOMENAL!

And that will always matter more. Beautiful job all of them.

I agree. Unfortunately, the production is marred by long, incredibly annoying animation sequences that make it mostly unwatchable.

I love the scene..Where "Mr.AppleGate The Devil"(Mr.Silvers),pretends to be a cop and forces "Joe Hardy"out of his own house and away from his wife."Applegate"also grumbles and then slams his hoof & whines"OH My Hoof!"

Marvelous! The scene with Jerry Lanning is really an affecting love duet in a way unlike any production I've ever seen. Thanks for putting this up!

The incandesent Miss Allison is perfectly cast in this role.

This scene makes me want to see the whole production. When it came out on TV the first time I was very young and didn't get the non-realistic art concept. Now I see thre were some pretty nice performances. Great to see Fran without puppets and hear Jerry singing some non-Mame music.

  • Joe Hardy! Like the Hardy Boys :)

  • I always come back and watch this again. Fran is amazingly good as Meg...so sincere, and perfectly cast. Jerry Lanning is stunning....Phil Silvers, also perfect casting. It sounds as if this tv production never caught on. Its a shame, because what you have shown us is so very wonderful.
