  • he shot his load

  • A very memorable scene in great noir film.

  • I think that Elisha Cook, in retrospect, is rightly admired for 2 reasons.

    1. He really was a fine actor.

    2. His ability to play the "sap" or the "loser" triggers something in our brains...in our heart of hearts we know we cannot live up to the "leading man", and so we identify with the characters Cook portrays. In his position the "leading ladies" would play us for fools too, and the leading men like Bogart would treat us with disdain.

  • Hollywood should have given him more roles like this - he had acting chops like nobody's business...

  • Every once in a while, Hollywood gets wise. ;^)

  • And he managed to keep playing the drums (note soundtrack) whilst kissing her, even though holding one drumstick in the air. A multi-talented fella!

  • Hopped up! Full of jive! Look in his pupils and see the back of his skull!

  • elisha cook kissing a babe? never seen that before.
