  • the colts are wasting him. He is one of the most explosive players from the edge i`ve seen come out in recent years. His true position is an olb in a 3-4 base defence.

  • @jdlund i see wat u mean and to be honest i dont have very high hopes fo him either

but i still expect him to be atleast decent

  • @93Dwightfreeney, it's possible the kid could turn it around. I'll be the first to admit I've been wrong about these types of things, but I do honeslty have a hard time seeing it here. He had a total of six tackles, that was it. When a guy is bad at special teams that's a huge concern. You look back at Mathis, his play on the line his rookie year was non existent, but he was solid at special teams.

Again I could be wrong, he could turn it around, I just don't have high hopes is all.

  • You have to give a defensive lineman 2 years to develop in the NFL, especially in the Colts system. Plus, with Freeney and Mathis in front of him, how much playing time was he supposed to get?

Revisit their second meeting with the Texans in the 2010 season. Mathis went out for a few plays with an injury, and Hughes played well. He had 2 QB hits, and busted up a run play with an assist from Angerer. His only "downside" was on special teams. It takes 2-3 years to determine a bust.

  • @jdlund ok i might have gone too far with the next dwight freeney thing but he look promising in his college years

and cmon hes was a new guy he wasnt as comfortable as he was back at TCU

he was also new to the nfl thing

but now hes training with the 2 best defensive ends in the league so i ll be looking forward to seeing him play

  • @93Dwightfreeney, not really quite sure what you are basing that opinion on. I know rookie seasons aren't always a perfect indication of how a player will do in the league in the long run, but Hughes' rookie season was really, really bad.

I know he played behind Freeny and Mathis, but that doesn't explain why he was significantly outperformed by Foster and Dawkins as well.

He had six tackles all year and was abysmal even on special teams. That is a really bad sign.

  • 5:14 is exactly why I'm still stoked on the colts picking him up.

  • he used to be running back

  • haha im in the football program at my high school and they have a giant poster of him.

  • he is the next dwight freeney

    welcome to the colts
