Originally from the DC Metropolitan area, Karla Garcia started out dancing competitively since the age of 6. She trained under Fran Peters, at the Kirov Academy of Ballet prep program, and The Washington School of Ballet. She decided to take her dancing to the big apple, where she attended the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She received her BFA in dance and a minor in journalism. Karla became dance chair and choreographer for the International Filipino Association hip hop dance team at NYU. While completing her dance degree, she performed works by notable choreographers such as Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, Bridget Moore, Tracy Lang and Kyle Abraham. During her final year of college, she landed a spot in the Broadway dance musical HOT FEET, choreographed by Maurice Hines. She has appeared at Carival NY and LA, the 2007 Rite Aid Industrial, and a Lucille Roberts Fitness commercial. Recently, Karla completed 7 months on the National tour of the Broadway hit WICKED. She is also a member of the Boogie Bots Crew, an up and coming group based out of DC. She currently resides in NYC, teaching and performing. Karla is blessed to have a loving, supportive family and thanks God for all the gifts He has given her.
