theres mercury on the bottom of ononaga lake from allied chemical which is know honeywell and untreated sewage and outdated sewer systems have also been a problem for many years. the lake has improved but not enough to swim in theres more fish in the lake know at one time there was only carp fish in the lake perch and other species have returned and plant life has returned also the water is alot clearer than it used to be.
you can not eat the fish from onodaga lake anymore you used to be able to eat one fish from the lake but mercury levels got high again so eating fish is banned again.
being from syracuse, the background shots from shore & the ship indicated it is not Onondaga Lake. Please look further into the pollution issue & Onondaga Lake ... it has improved so much that you can now eat the fish that is caught there & there is LOTS of great fishing there.
@articzoo Industry around the lake dumped waste into the lake for many years until the Clean Air and Water Act, but solid waste (leaking septic tanks, fertilizer, and manure) still go into the lake from the Onondaga River.
@plywood75 yeah its odd theres pottery road and in lakeland there is alot of pottery pipes for drainage on a hill hmmm kind of odd but it was a millitary training ground here if you need to know more history i know almost all of it:)
This video is about diving the shipwreck Onondaga wrecked on Watch Hill reef in 1918, no lake Onondaga. This is a saltwater environment and it is not polluted just has a lot of plankton.
the bottom of lake onandaga is covered in broken pottery. between 1930-1950 there was a porcelain factory in syracuse that used to dump broken pottery to help kep the lake from eroding along the banks. I noticed that today while fishing and had to do some research. very interesting. didn't catch shit though. big bass in that lake if you like sport fishing.
Think it's bogus? Apparently you haven't done any research. But the wreck of the onondaga sits in about 50 ft of water off of Watch Hill in Rhode Island. So the wreck is actually in the Atlantic Ocean.
As far as the water looking nasty, that's typical New England visibility for diving in the ocean. You get used to it.

I think the onondaga is the name of a wreck. Onondaga Lake is not the location.
