It would have been awesome that if you filled your boost bar to max, you could press L3 and suddenly warp from day to night, or vice-versa.

To each their own. Personally, I would have loved for it's special ability to allow me to warp around the map.
Still, obviously they couldn't recreate the DeLorean from BTTF, but it's fairly obvious to anyone who's seen the movie what the car is supposed to represent.
It's also interesting to see how the two modes actually handle quite differently.
